A grand Antique late Victorian Albert chain made up of solid Sterling Silver curb links which have been gilded in a bright 18ct Yellow Gold.
Albert chains were named after Prince Albert and were used by wealthy Victorian gentlemen to secure a pocket watch by attaching it via the T-bar to the buttonhole of a waistcoat. Today they have taken on a new function and are now commonly worn as a women’s statement necklace also.
It’s a good solid chain and weighs 54.30 grams in total. It’s a wonderful find and complete with a T-bar and two claw clasps.
